Wednesday, August 23rd "Sisters Meeting"!

Did you know your childs best chance at learning to read and having the best teacher is you? Join us this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church for a short, but jam-packed with information and refreshments "Sisters Meeting"! We will be learing some tips on helping our kids to get a jump start on reading and homework. This is something every Mom, sister, aunt and grandma should know! See you there!

Please come join us!! - We will have something for everyone!! We will have a light supper...sandwiches and fruit so please come even if it's just to visit and eat. Love you all!!

What a great evening it was!!! Missy, Becky, Amy, SueA...everyone did such a great job and it was so much fun to just be together. Missy's game...not so much fun...since i got embarrassed haha. But it was great. Amy and Becky did a great workshop and SueA had some grat lunch ideas. We missed those Sisters that weren't able to attend. Watch for the Super Saturday sign ups. I'm especially excited for the glass etching!! All kinds of fun ideas ... especially for Christmas Gifts.

October Presidency Message

Presidency Message: A huge, heartfelt thanks to the past Relief Society Presidency. They served us all well, and their time spent in our behalf is very much appreciated. We as a new Relief Society Presidency are very excited to be mingling with each one of you. We are excited to learn, love and serve with each other. We are thrilled with the dedication of all of the wonderful sisters in our ward. Thanks for your commitment to get out and visit, teach, and serve but most importantly to LOVE each other. As I approach this Relief Society calling in this new ward (my ward), and move forward in this calling with Karen Eberhard, Michele Rogers and Maranda Turner at my side, I know that if we all put our trust and faith in our Heavenly Father we can accomplish a great work together. We are never alone when we are on the Lord's errand. Many great days ahead! Love, Karen Woods

Join your Sisters at the Temple!!!

Oct. 18th – Ward Temple Night @ 6:00pm with a social after @ 8:00pm @ The Eberhard’s home (2085 S. Legacy Dr.), Oct. 24th – RS Sisters Temple Morning – 11:20am session with lunch in the cafeteria after, Blessings of Temple Attendance One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me upon a rock. (Psalm 27:4-5) If you are geographically able, go to the temple on a regular basis. You will be better fathers and husbands, better wives and mothers. I know your lives are busy. I know that you have much to do. But I make you a promise that if you will go to the house of the Lord, you will be blessed; life will be better for you. President Hinckley in “Stand a Little Taller.”

We want to congratulate the Congratulations to the Howick family on the birth of their new baby girl, Harper. She was born Sept. 14th and weighed 7.4 lbs and is 19.5 inches. Also congratulations to the Brinkerhoff family on the birth of their baby girl, Adeline. She was born Sept. 16th and weighed 6 lbs 8 oz and is 19 inches. All are home and doing well. Also congratulations to the Manning family on the birth of their son. Jaxon Rick Manning was born on September 19th early in the morning at 2:20am and is 7lbs 7oz. Both are home and doing well.

Honoring Our Covenants

Prayerfully study this material and, as appropriate, discuss it with the sisters you visit. Use the questions to help you strengthen your sisters and to make Relief Society an active part of your own life.

Honoring Our Covenants

Visiting teaching is an expression of our discipleship and a way to honor our covenants as we serve and strengthen one another. A covenant is a sacred and enduring promise between God and His children. “When we realize that we are children of the covenant, we know who we are and what God expects of us,” said Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “His law is written in our hearts. He is our God and we are His people.”¹

As visiting teachers we can strengthen those we visit in their efforts to keep their sacred covenants. By doing so, we help them prepare for the blessings of eternal life. “Every sister in this Church who has made covenants with the Lord has a divine mandate to help save souls, to lead the women of the world, to strengthen the homes of Zion, and to build the kingdom of God,”² said Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

As we make and keep sacred covenants, we become instruments in the hands of God. We will be able to articulate our beliefs and strengthen each other’s faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

From Our History

The temple is “a place of thanksgiving for all saints,” the Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1833. It is “a place of instruction for all those who are called to the work of the ministry in all their several callings and offices; that they may be perfected in the understanding of their ministry, in theory, in principle, and in doctrine, in all things pertaining to the kingdom of God on the earth” (D&C 97:13–14).

Relief Society sisters in Nauvoo, Illinois, in the early 1840s helped each other prepare for temple ordinances. In the ordinances of the higher priesthood that Latter-day Saints received in the Nauvoo Temple, “the power of godliness [was] manifest” (D&C 84:20). “As the Saints kept their covenants, this power strengthened and sustained them through their trials in the days and years ahead.”³

In the Church today, faithful women and men all over the world serve in the temple and continue to find strength in the blessings that can be received only through temple covenants.
